Whitehill Primary School & Nursery

The Decus Educational Trust

Weekly Bulletin: Friday 14th March 2025

Dear Parents, Carers & Families,

Year 3 students wowed us with their knowledge and creativity this week. It was super to see their wonderful story mapping, Science, Art and DT. Their imaginative ideas, ingenuity and use of colour was impressive. Well done Year 3. Keep it up!

Year 3 Learning

Week on week, we will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups.

We are really pleased with the letters that our students penned, expressing an interest in becoming a Prefect, Head Prefect, Deputy Prefect or House Captain. Much thought was given to their writing. It is clear how passionate our students are about helping in the school and supporting others. Well done to those who took the time to apply. We are very proud of your efforts and the fact that you care about the Whitehill community!

We will announce who has been selected as a Prefect or House Captain this week and then look to launch a whole school election for Head and Deputy Prefect. We look forward to updating everyone on the outcome.

Friday’s Aletheia Event enabled our team to come together and learn alongside colleagues from schools across the Trust. Gary Aubin was a key speaker at the event. Gary is one of the top researchers and minds within SEND. He explored the notion of accessibility for all and spoke about the importance of adjustments that  benefit everyone rather than specific groups. If education can be adjusted to accommodate everyone rather than specific groups, true inclusivity can be reached. If you are interested to learn more about this idea, click HERE. Thank you for accommodating this training day!

Have a lovely week everyone.

Best wishes,

Angela Carpenter

Attendance

The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.

We have been reviewing our attendance awards and have decided to award a termly prize to the class with the best attendance overall. Below, you can see this week's attendance data. This week, the class with the best attendance is Violet Class. Well done Violet Class! Keep up the good work!
