Weekly Bulletin: Friday 20th June 2025
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
Summer firmly feels upon us with such super sunny weather. It’s hard to believe that in the UK Summer officially begins tomorrow. With the coming of Summer, much of our learning has become focused upon being outside.
All over the school, our children have been practising for Sports’ Day and refining their teamwork skills. It is lovely to see the children working together and having fun on the field. We hope that you are able to come along to watch our Sports’ Day Events. It is sure to be a real treat. Please see the Key Events section below for dates and timings.
Our children in Nursery through to Year 3 had a great time participating in a dance workshop earlier this week. Thank you Miss Leal for organising this!

All across the school, our students have also been busy creating sculptures that are inspired by our planet. All of the sculptures have been built using recycled materials and have resulted from conversations about the environment and sustainability. These sculptures will be displayed on a float as part of the Northfleet Carnival which is taking place on July 12th. More details to follow. Well done to our students for your amazing artwork!

Our Year 2 pupils have been visiting Westbrook Bay today and learning about coastal features and thinking about the Victorians who first set the trend of beach holidays. Well done to all of our Year 2 students. We have been told that your behaviour was fabulous! Thank you also to those of you who offered your time to come along and support this activity!
As part of Forest School, our Year 4s have their own guttering system set up. They loved playing with the water and making sure the water flowed properly. They enjoyed having ‘Pooh Stick Races.’
Year 4 Forest School
Thank you to Miss Nichols for bringing in your old guttering for us to use in forest school. The children have loved doing this, they checked the flow of the water and recycled the water as it flowed through.
Week on week, we will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups.
With the weather being so very hot, we are making adjustments within the school day to ensure that our children are as cool and comfortable as they can be. We are ventilating the building as much as possible, moving to and using the shadier and cooler parts of the site. We are using fans and blinds to keep everyone as cool as we can. We are encouraging our students to drink and stay hydrated. In addition, we are encouraging the pupils to place wet paper towels to cool their bodies. Whilst the temperature sits above 25 ℃, we are happy for our pupils to wear their PE kits in school - if they wish to. Thank you to you all for making sure that your children have sun protection!
We are in the process of reviewing the school’s policies regarding Primary aged students’ mobile phone use. We are looking to seek your thoughts. Please click HERE and share your views.
Best wishes,
Angela Carpenter

Attendance
The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
This week, the class with the best attendance is Turquoise Class. Well done Turquoise Class! Keep up the good work!
