Weekly Bulletin: Friday 22nd November 2024
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
With this week being Parliament Week our assemblies have had a focus on democracy and the democratic process. As part of this learning, all classes met virtually for a whole school Student Council Meeting. The Student Council Representatives were amazing, acting as the confident and considered spokesperson for their classes and sharing the information that they have gathered from their peers. The session provided all of the children with a glimpse of how their ideas are conveyed within Student Council Meetings, how the Council and the Headteacher consider and debate such matters. In this session the Student Council Representatives voiced to the rest of the school their peers’ suggestions for naming the newly developed quad area, they informed everyone of their class' views regarding having ages mixed at lunchtime and also relayed some fabulous suggestions for wider student roles.
It was so lovely to see so many of you attend Parents’ Evening. Thank you to everyone that took the time to complete the survey - your views are invaluable. On that note, thank you also to all who took the time to complete the Anti-bullying Survey. We will be in touch in due course to follow up on any feedback here.
We are pleased to announce that three parents have put themselves forward as candidates for the position of Parent Governor. Thank you to all three candidates. A letter went out to you today explaining the Parent Governor election process and advising you of the candidates. Please read each of the candidate’s statements and complete a ballot form to vote for your preferred candidate. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this!
Have a lovely week everyone.
Best wishes,
Angela Carpenter
Headteacher
Attendance
The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
Below, you can see this week's attendance data. The stars indicate the year groups who were awarded 5 minutes extra Green Time for topping everyone else's attendance:
