Weekly Bulletin: Friday 2nd May 2025
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
This week has been an eventful and exciting week with our Year 6’s mock SATs and some of our Year 4 students embarking on a residential trip away from home.
Our Year 6 students have approached this week of tests with maturity and a can-do attitude. We are so very proud of your efforts. Well done!
As you know, SATs week begins on Monday 12th May. To enable the children to come into school and feel relaxed we will be running a free Year 6 breakfast club each morning (Monday- Thursday) from 8.00am. The children will be able to come into school (via the entrance on Sun Lane) and enjoy some toast, toast toppers such as jam, fruit and juice. There will be no cost for this to parents. Please don’t forget to complete the Google Form which was sent out on Aprils 24th to let us know if your child will be attending by Thursday 8th May. Please click HERE to read A Parent Guide on SATs.
Our Year 4 pupils have had a fabulous time at Bawdsey Manor Adventure Centre, Suffolk. The sunshine added to the joy they have had outdoors, embracing new experiences and learning new skills. The children’s behaviour has been impeccable. One of our students emptied a tower climb and created a new record managing to climb it in 26 seconds. The current record is 20 seconds and this was achieved by an experienced adult. Conversely, those Year 4 students who have remained in school have blown us away with their behaviour and the independent learning projects that they have done. Well done!
Two of our Year 5 students completed a 10k walk. They started at Shorne Country Park and walked through Shorne and Cobham. The girls were amazing and managed to raise £600! £200 of this went on purchasing 2 diabetes clocks and the remaining money was sent to Breakthrough T1D charity.
The girls celebrated with a well earnt ice cream at the end. Well done girls! We are so proud!
One of our year 6 pupils raised £2,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital by walking 2.5 Kilometres. Again, we are very proud of you! Well done!
Best wishes,

A Message from Nic Gardner (Family Support Partner)
As you are all probably aware, we are now using Arbour to monitor school attendance. I am still navigating my way around the new system and appreciate your patience whilst I am doing this.
What I have noticed is the impact that arriving late has on your child’s attendance and even more so for those arriving after 9:15 who would receive a U mark. The U mark ultimately means that they are in school but does not count towards their attendance at all for that morning. Whilst I appreciate that some situations are unavoidable, It not only impacts on their attendance but of course their learning.
If you wish to discuss your child’s attendance or any support that we may be able to offer please feel free to contact me.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
This week, the class with the best attendance is Amber Class. Well done Amber Class! Keep up the good work!
