Weekly Bulletin: Friday 4th October 2024
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
Wow, the school was awash with capes, masks and heroic acts yesterday. We all had good fun trying to guess who was hidden behind some of the masks and also listening to the children explain exactly why they had chosen to dress as their chosen superhero. Thank you so much to parents and carers for supporting the event. Well done children for not only looking like superheroes but also behaving like real superheroes - Your excitement did not impede your learning!
Super Hero Day
On today’s travels we have noticed lots of fabulous learning displays starting to go up. Year 2’s Great Fire of London diaries were a real highlight - Well done! Reception’s Plate faces also made us smile - Well done!
We are looking forward to sharing the children’s learning with you next week. Don’t forget, you are invited to join us on the following days:
4th October Displays
Stay & Play On Monday 7th October, the parents of Reception and Nursery children are invited to join them in school for part of a session. This will be an opportunity to observe how they have settled and to enjoy seeing them learn through play.
Reception parents are invited to attend between 14:30 and 15:30, Morning Nursery Parents are invited between 10:30 and 11:15 and Afternoon Nursery Parents are welcome between 14:15 and 15:00. Those parents of children who attend Nursery all day are welcome to attend either the morning or afternoon slot.
Class Teacher Presentations & Refreshments - On Wednesday 9th October, between 15:30 and 17:00, we are running information sessions with class teachers. The sessions will be held in the children’s classroom and be approximately 20 minutes long. Tea, coffee and cake will be on sale in the halls - all donations will go to school funds. There will be a 10 minute break between each session so that there will be ample time to move from class to class and listen to different teachers. This is a first for the school. If the event is successful, we will look to run more like it.
Year 6 Assembly - On Thursday 10th October, at 09:00, the parents of year 6 students are invited to attend a presentation delivered by our year 6 students which is a summation of this term’s learning. This event will last approximately 15 minutes and take place in the Key Stage 2 Hall.
Year 2 Assembly - On Thursday 10th October, at 09:30, the parents of year 2 students are invited to attend a presentation delivered by our year 2 students which is a summation of this term’s learning. This event will last approximately 15 minutes and take place in the Key Stage 2 Hall.
Have a lovely week everyone.
Best wishes,

Attendance
The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
Below, you can see this week's attendance data. The stars indicate the year groups who were awarded 5 minutes extra Green Time for topping everyone else's attendance:
