Whitehill Primary School & Nursery

The Decus Educational Trust

Weekly Bulletin: Friday 19th September 2025

We continue to be very impressed and proud of the progress that our students are making in school. Whether out on the playground, in the  classroom, attending assemblies or in the lunch hall, the behaviour has been impeccable. Today, we had a delightful chat with some of our students at lunchtime. It was lovely to learn what they have enjoyed in school this week and to hear them speak so confidently.

On our classroom visits, we were Wowed by our Year 6's English work. Their written work had been inspired by Louis Sacher's book, Holes. The pupils were imagining that they were Stanley Yelnats and were writing a letter to the judge to explain their innocence. Not only were the letters compositionally strong, they also were beautifully presented. Some of the students were additionally proud of their performance with learning spellings this week and were keen to show me the accuracy with which they wrote down dictated sentences. Well done Year 6 for making us welcome in your classrooms and sharing your fabulous learning!

Year 6 English

Week on week, we will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups.

We are looking forward to the forthcoming Whitehill Fete which is scheduled for Saturday 27th September. All are welcome to join us for what is sure to be a fun day!

It is not too late to volunteer should you want to help out at the Fete. Please contact the PTA if you would like to offer your services.

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!

Best wishes,

 Attendance

The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
