Weekly Bulletin: Friday 27th June 2025
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
This week we were visited by Therese Hoyle. Therese is a best selling writer and play expert who has recently been asked to share her knowledge on the subject at the House of Lords. We invited Therese in to work with our staff and children, to impart her knowledge and share new and appealing ways to get the children more active at playtimes. She taught everyone some exciting new outdoor games. Therese was very impressed with the students’ behaviour and positivity throughout her two day visit especially the Peer Mentors. Well done to all of our pupils!
Our Year 1 students visited St Aiden’s Church this week. Not only did this visit support the children’s understanding of the Christian faith, it gave them an opportunity to make maps of the route; there and back. The Year 1 team were extremely impressed with their knowledge and behaviour whilst out. Well done to our Year 1 pupils! Thank you to the staff and volunteers who came along to support and made this happen!
Year 1 Church Visit
Today, our newly formed Key Stage 2 choir performed for the first time to the rest of the school. It was a joy to hear them sing and also to see how much happiness both the choir and audience got from the experience. Well done and thank you to our choir and to Mrs Whittaker for ending our week with such a wonderful musical treat!
Week on week, we will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups.
Mr Outred, our Chair of Governors came in today to celebrate and award pupils who have been identified for significantly improving in some way this term. The students were recognised for overcoming many barriers to learning and subsequently making notable progress in school. Well done to all of our students for their achievements and particularly those who have had to overcome additional challenges! Thank you to Mr Outred for taking the time to celebrate our achievements!
Governors Most Improved Awards
With the weather continuing to be so very hot, we will continue to make adjustments within the school day to ensure that our children are as cool and comfortable as they can be. We will continue to ventilate the building as much as possible, moving to and using the shadier and cooler parts of the site. We will continue to use fans and blinds to keep everyone as cool as we can. We will continue to encourage our students to drink and stay hydrated and to use wet paper towels to cool their bodies. Whilst the temperature sits above 25 ℃, we will continue to let pupils to wear their PE kits in school - if they wish to. We will especially take care and have additional drink breaks all our forthcoming Sport's Days. Again, thank you to you all for making sure that your children have sun protection!
We are in the process of reviewing the school’s policies regarding Primary aged students’ mobile phone use. We are looking to seek your thoughts. Please click HERE and share your views.
Best wishes,
Angela Carpenter
Headteacher
Attendance
The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
This week, the class with the best attendance is Turquoise Class. Well done Turquoise Class! Keep up the good work!
