Whitehill Primary School & Nursery

The Decus Educational Trust

Weekly Bulletin: Friday 4th April 2025

Dear Parents, Carers & Families,

Over the last couple of weeks, many of our Year 6 students have had the opportunity to participate in Bikeability Training. Bikeability is the government's national cycle training programme. It helps pupils to learn practical skills and understand how to cycle safely on today's roads. Twenty eight of our pupils were run through their paces and we have been informed that they did remarkably well. Well done to all who participated and thank you to Miss Leal for organising this!

Year 6 Bikeability

Our Reception children have been learning about different religions and in particular places of worship. This week our Reception children had the opportunity to visit Christ Church. The Reception Team were very proud of their students’ behaviour and how inquisitive they were. Well done to our Reception students and thank you to those adults who assisted on the day!

Reception Church Visit

Year 4 had a fantastic time visiting the British Museum. The trip was an inspiring way to round up the pupils’ Egyptian studies. The Year 4 Team said it was a delight to see the children learn.

Week on week, we will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups. Well done to our Year 4 students and thank you to those adults who came on the day!

This week, we say farewell to Mrs Lear. After years serving the school community, Mrs Lear is retiring. We would like to thank her for the care and kindness that she has shown to many of our children, families and staff. We wish her well!

After a period of absence, Mrs Weston has decided to stand down from the position of Deputy Headteacher. We would like to wish her all the best!

Just a quick reminder that after the Easter break, we plan to hold our first Parent / Carer / School Consultation meeting at school. The meeting will take place on Tuesday 22nd April at 16:30. If you have not got round to registering your interest in joining us, it's not too late. Please click HERE and express your interest.

Have a safe and happy Easter break. We look forward to seeing everyone back in school on April 22nd.

Best wishes,

Angela Carpenter

Headteacher

Attendance

The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.

Please note, that we are currently transferring systems with SIMs moving over to Arbor as a result there will be delay in publishing our attendance data. We will publish this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!
