Weekly Bulletin: Friday 5th September 2025

We have been super impressed with how well our students have adjusted to a new school year with new teaching staff and classrooms. With all students, from the very very youngest to our oldest engaging positively during lessons, assemblies, lunch and play. It has been especially pleasing to see them helping one another and doing their best. Well done to all of you! You make us very proud!

We would like to say an especially BIG well done to a group of our year 5 students for helping Miss Gardner and one of our Parent Governors, Miss Barton, who through the Foresters Charity have been setting up a foodbank in school. There was much to carry and stack and with many willing hands this got done very quickly. Thank you to Miss Barton for supporting the school with this endeavour! The bank is available to anyone in the school community. Please speak to Miss Gardner if you think the Foodbank would be of use to you.

Thank you to all of you for supporting your children in these first days of the new term. We recognise that for some of our children their first days can be anxious ones and that it can take a lot of patience and encouragement on your part to get them into school. Perseverance has noticeably won for many this year and experience has shown that if we keep strong all children eventually settle.

There has been much in the news about the impact of school attendance on learning especially at the beginning of a school year. Research has shown that if a child misses more than four days in a school year, they are less likely to excel in their Secondary school years and exams taken at this point. You may be interested to know that if your child is absent for 10% of the school year, they would have missed 100 lessons in total.

Many of us have been caught out with the showers this week. The weather seems to be on the turn. Please make sure that your child has their coat in school every day. Thank you!

Wishing you a dryer and happy weekend,

Best wishes,
